¿Cómo preguntar y responder preguntas en inglés?

En inglés, como en español, hay dos tipos de preguntas.

Preguntas sin interrogativos y preguntas con interrogativos.

LAS PREGUNTAS SIN INTERROGATIVOS

En este tipo de preguntas, haremos la pregunta solo con el verbo. Para ello diferenciaremos entre las preguntas con el verbo "to be", las preguntas con "Do, Does, Did" y las preguntas con los verbos modales (Would, Could, Will).

• Preguntas con el verbo "to be"

Estructura:

Verbo "to be" conjugado + sujeto + objeto +?

Recuerda que siempre va primero el verbo y luego el sujeto.

Ejemplos:

• Is she in the office? ¿Está ella en la oficina?
• Were they working? ¿Estaban ellos trabajando?
• Are they busy? ¿Están ocupados?

 Estructura de las contestaciones verbo "to be":

Yes + sujeto + verbo "to be" conjugado.

No + sujeto + verbo "to be" + not

• Is she in the office?  Yes, she is. No, she isn't.
• Were they working?  Yes, they were. No, they weren't.
• Are they busy? Yes, they are. No, they aren't.

•  Preguntas con Do/Does/Did

Para preguntar con verbos que no son el verbo "to be", ni "modal verbs", debemos emplear "Do/Does/ Did".

Do para el presente para todas las personas excepto: He, She, It.

Does para :He, She, It.

Did para todas las personas cuando la pregunta es en pasado.

Estructura preguntas en presente y pasado:

Do/Does/Did  + sujeto+ verbo principal en infinitivo  + objeto +?

Ejemplos:

• Do you work here? ¿Trabajas tú aquí?
• Does she know what I'm talking about? ¿Sabe ella de lo que estoy hablando?
• Did they go to the presentation? ¿Fueron a la presentación?

 Estructura de las contestaciones con Do/Does/Did:

Yes + sujeto + do/does/did

No + sujeto +don't/doesn't/didn't

• Do you work here? Yes, I do.
  
• Does she know what I'm talking about? Yes she does. No, she doesn't.
• Did they go to the presentation? Yes, they did. No, they didn't.
